6 Most Anticipated Albums of 2019
2018 releases fed us well. I mean Ariana Grande’s Sweetner, Travis Scott’s Astroworld and Shawn Mendes’ self-titled album, Shawn Mendes? With a great year of new music coming to a close, that only means we get to start getting ready for the 2019 releases. Here are my most anticipated albums of 2019 so far.
Its been far too long since we’ve had a RiRi album, and let me tell you we are ready. ANTI came out in 2016, which means it will have been three years by the time 2019 rolls around. Rumor has it, Rihanna might pull an Ariana Grande and bang out two albums in the new year but I just need some new Rihanna music! Recently the singer got fans excited after replying to a fan’s question about the album release date on her IG post, where she responded “2019.”
Ariana Grade, Thank u, Next
Definitely one on the top of my lists, I cannot wait for the whole album thank u, next to drop. As Ari pointed out in her recent speech at Glamour’s Women of the Year Gala, 2018 has been the best year of her career but the worst in her personal life. After tragically loosing ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, getting engaged and calling off the engagement to actor, Pete Davidson, Ariana has done extremely well for picking herself up and showing the world you can’t let anything bring you down. After the surprise single thank u, next dropped just months after her long-awaited album Sweetner was released, Ari tweeted that fans would be getting another album that she wrote and is recording that speaks to her heartbreak and picking herself up again over the past few months. We have already heard thank u next, in which she thanks her past boyfriends and imagine, which shows Ari’s difficulty accepting the recent death and breakup. Initially the album was supposed to be released by the end of this year, but it was seemly pushed back after the insane hype over the single.
Back in November, Blackbear posted on his instagram some pictures of him working on new songs and posted the caption “new album anonymous 2.14 anonymous world tour starts march.” This, of course, got fans very exited for the new upcoming music and expected some new singles to lead up to the album. Bear’s latest single, The 1, which was released in August, is expected to be featured on the album. Earlier this month, Blackbear went to IG again to post that the album may be pushed back due to the fact that he signed to a label and it has to be perfect because it’s his best album yet. Although I understand the time it takes to craft and perfect an album, I’m dying to hear the new material and see the tour in the spring!
The Weeknd, Chapter 6
We haven’t heard much from The Weeknd since he dropped his EP My Dear Melancholy, earlier this year. In November, the singer tweeted out that he was working on his new album “Chapter 6.” He also mentioned that he hasn’t “been this inspired in years,” which I’m hoping means we are going to hear a lot more songs about Bella and Abel’s relationship!
Miley Cyrus, TBD
Miley Cyrus has resurrected into yet another form of Miley we haven’t seen yet. She recently released Nothing Breaks like a Heart alongside Mark Ronson, which will be featured on his upcoming album. We haven’t yet got a peek at a Miley single, but based on the press tour she’s on right now, its definitely coming.
Justin Bieber, TBD
Okay maybe this is my own hopefulness that Justin will be dropping an album next year but I don’t care, he will always be on my list. The newlywed hasn’t released anything to make us think there will be an album in 2019 but c’mon its been YEARS since we had a proper JB album. Justin’s been tucked away with Hailey for a few months now and there’s been a lot of talk after seeing him enter and leave studios. Scooter also mentioned that Justin’s “got the music bug” and we will see music from him “soon.” Again with the soon. When is soon? I want it now.
